The Allied Irish Banks (AIB) Northern Ireland headquarters is one of Belfast’s most prominent landmarks. First built in 1992, the financial institution embarked on an ambitious refurbishment to create 91,000 square feet of Grade A office space spread over six floors.
Several floors were refitted with new mechanical and electrical services, while the remaining floors, which are sublet out, also had basic M&E installations. Uninterruptible power supplies had a key role to play in the fitout, with Riello UPS reseller Ashdale Engineering earning the contract to specify several specific solutions.
To support the building’s main IT and communications infrastructure, it specified a 40kVA version of our high-efficiency, transformer-free Multi Sentry (MST) range. While a 10kVA Sentryum and 2.2kVA Sentinel Pro were also installed to back up the fire shutter mechanical doors and wider fire suppression system respectively.
The overhaul was recognised as the ‘Medium Commercial Project of the Year’ at the Northern Ireland Electrical Awards 2021.
