Motor Fuel Group (MFG), the largest independent forecourt operator in the UK, has signed up to be a part of the Zap-Pay EV charging payment system.

MFG is likely to be up and running on Zap-Pay towards the end of September and is the fifth charging network to join the network.

Its charging network currently consists of more than 40 rapid and ultra-rapid charging devices at service stations across the UK.

Over the next ten years, MFG is planning to invest about £400 million in 3,000 ultra-rapid 150kW and 350kW EV charging devices across its network.

Zap-Pay, a way to pay for EV charging across networks from within the Zap-Map app, launched last year with the goal of signing up all the key charge point networks across the UK.

As a single-app payment system that uses a credit or debit card to pay for charging, Zap-Pay avoids the need to use different payment methods across all the various networks.

Alex Earl, Commercial Director at Zap-Map, said, “We’re delighted to welcome MFG on board as a Zap-Pay partner. As a dynamic and expanding network with strategically placed ultra-rapid charge points, MFG makes a fantastic addition to the Zap-Pay partner network, one that will make EV charging that much more attractive for Zap-Map users.”

Ed Chadwick, Director, EV & Strategic Projects at MFG, added, “Our integration with Zap-Pay is an exciting step towards providing greater choice, simplicity and convenience for drivers using our expanding network of EV charging hubs.

“Anything we can do to reduce range anxiety and making the use of EV chargers a simple and easy to use process, must be applauded.”
