Equipmake, the electrification engineering specialist, has secured a new contract with Golden Tours, to repower a further ten Volvo B5 London Tour Buses, using its in-house developed Zero-Emission Drivetrain (ZED).
The agreement follows an earlier initial order placed by Golden Tours with Equipmake in February for an unspecified number of conversions to battery-electric worth £2 million.
Golden Tours was established in 1984 and specialises providing tours around London and day trips to locations such as Stonehenge and Bath.
Equipmake expects to begin delivery of these ten repowered buses over the coming months.
The company’s ZED is a modular and scalable repowering solution, making it applicable to both single and double-deck applications.
Equipmake’s technology features its in-house developed electric motor, inverter, and power electronics, which are combined with lithium-ion batteries.
Also, each conversion costs less than half the price of a new electric bus.
